Yosef Trachtenberg

Yosef litigates a broad range of complex commercial disputes, achieving favorable results for his clients in a wide range of matters, including litigation, arbitration, and business disputes.

Yosef joined Amini LLC in 2025 as an Associate, bringing with him three years of commercial litigation experience from the global law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP. He has successfully represented plaintiffs and defendants in commercial disputes involving litigation before state and federal courts, arbitrations and mediations, bankruptcies, business disputes, and government investigations.

Yosef has also secured multiple victories for pro bono clients facing civil and religious discrimination. His recent experience includes successfully representing a religious institution in its appeal before the Second Circuit, arising from discriminatory efforts to prevent the institution from acquiring a school campus, leading to the reinstatement of multi-million-dollar tortious-interference claims against a local government. Yosef has also helped secure favorable settlements for tenants facing religious discrimination from their cooperative.

During law school, Yosef served as Associate Editor of the Cardozo Law Review. He also served as a legal intern to the Honorable Robert W. Lehrburger, United States Magistrate Judge for the Southern District of New York.
Significant Litigation Victories & Notable Cases*:

  • Represented a major book publisher in winning the dismissal of a pair of industry-wide antitrust class actions in the S.D.N.Y. concerning e-book and print book markets.
  • Counseled a global pharmaceutical company in connection with business disputes arising out of worldwide distribution agreements.
  • Achieved a favorable settlement for a group of institutional lenders in a breach of contract dispute involving approximately $750 million in Senior Notes.
  • Represented a provider of emergency air ambulance services in a Department of Justice investigation alleging violation of the Anti-Kickback Statute and False Claims Act.
  • Secured favorable settlements for a global steel manufacturer in multiple breach of contract matters worth hundreds of millions of dollars, before state courts and in mediation.
  • Obtained dismissal of a replevin action in the Commercial Division of the New York Supreme Court and the First Department, brought against a foreign museum seeking turnover of a 14th-century manuscript.
  • Represented a bond insurer in Puerto Rico’s bankruptcy proceedings related to the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA).
